A
SUMMER’S LEASE
Dutton, Dell Paperback
Gloria Rein, fifteen, and a sophomore in high school during World War
II, knows that she is a genius, even if nobody in her family agrees with
her. She plans to become an author, but for the time being she’ll
settle for being the editor of Wings the high school magazine. When Mrs.
Horne, the faculty advisor for the magazine, appoints her as co-editor
with Jerry Lieberman, a talented poet, she is furious and jealous. Both
of them spend the summer together at Mrs. Horne’s country house,
with her children and a few of their friends. In that one amazing summer,
Gloria tries to come to grips with her jealousy and nearly succeeds.
